Chris Larsen Donates $10 Million in XRP to Kamala Harris

Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen has made headlines by donating $10 million in XRP to support Vice President Kamala Harris's presidential campaign. The announcement, made on October 21, comes as the 2024 election approaches, positioning Harris against former President Donald Trump.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Larsen emphasized the need for the Democratic Party to adopt a new strategy regarding technology and cryptocurrency. He stated, “It’s time for the Democrats to have a new approach to tech innovation,” expressing confidence in Harris's ability to lead in this domain. His donation is part of a broader trend where tech and crypto leaders are increasingly engaging in political campaigns, particularly concerning regulatory clarity for digital assets.

Larsen's contributions include three separate cash donations totaling nearly $10 million to Future Forward, a super PAC supporting Harris, alongside an earlier $1 million donation in XRP. This significant financial backing underscores Larsen's commitment to Harris and her vision for technological advancement.

Despite this robust support, Harris faces challenges in public perception. Current betting odds indicate she has only a 37.5% chance of winning the election, reflecting a competitive landscape where cryptocurrency remains a contentious issue. As the election nears, the impact of Larsen's donation on Harris's campaign remains to be seen amidst ongoing debates about crypto regulation in the U.S.
