Key Players Leading Crypto Change
Ron Hammond, senior director of government relations at the Blockchain Association, sees great potential. He believes the Senate Banking Committee and the House Financial Services Committee will shape digital asset policy.
These committees are expected to play a big role in creating a legal framework for crypto. In December 2024, Congressman French Hill became chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
Hill criticized the previous administration’s approach to crypto regulation. He has vowed to introduce a crypto market structure bill in the first 100 days. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has also gotten involved.
Senators Pushing for Crypto Reform
Senator Tim Scott chairs the Senate Banking Committee. Scott is a strong supporter of crypto and promises sweeping reforms for digital assets. He has taken aim at the SEC’s former leadership, claiming they blocked progress.
Senator Cynthia Lummis now chairs the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Digital Assets. Lummis is focused on passing broad digital asset legislation.
Key goals include stablecoin regulations, a Bitcoin reserve, and defending crypto from overregulation. With new leadership in Congress, crypto advocates are optimistic. The GOP-controlled Congress could be a major ally in the fight for crypto-friendly policies.
