Over 40 projects live, with a TVL exceeding $100 million.
BOB ("Build on Bitcoin") has made headlines by becoming the first hybrid Layer-2 (L2) protocol to join the Superchain ecosystem, which utilizes Optimism's OP Stack. This innovative move, announced on October 30, 2024, aims to merge the robust security of Bitcoin with the flexibility of Ethereum, addressing Bitcoin's limitations in smart contract capabilities and interoperability.
The hybrid model of BOB allows for a seamless connection between Bitcoin and Ethereum-based decentralized finance (DeFi) applications. With features like one-click Bitcoin staking and user-friendly onboarding tools, BOB is positioned as a premier destination for BitcoinFi within the Superchain ecosystem. Currently, BOB supports over 40 live projects and has more than 60 additional projects in development, boasting a total value locked (TVL) exceeding $100 million.
Key benefits of BOB's integration into the Superchain include eligibility for Retro Funding from the Optimism treasury, potential OP airdrop qualifications for users, and opportunities for grants aimed at fostering innovation. Alexei Zamyatin, co-founder of BOB, expressed excitement about the potential of their hybrid L2 model to enhance developer tools and user experiences in the burgeoning Bitcoin-based DeFi space.
