The LastPass Breach and Its Aftermath
In December 2022, hackers breached LastPass, stealing sensitive data like keys and API tokens. Armed with this, they began targeting crypto wallets. The first major theft happened in October 2023, with $4.4 million lost.
Another attack in February 2024 resulted in a $6.2 million loss. By September, the stolen funds totaled $35 million, and with this latest attack, the amount is nearing $45 million.
Hackers took advantage of the holiday season, using fake deals to trick victims. After stealing the crypto, they swapped it for Ethereum and moved the funds through different exchanges.
Crypto Security Risks Keep Rising
Experts are urging users to act quickly. ZachXBT warned people to move their assets immediately. If anyone has stored seed phrases or private keys on LastPass, the risks are high.

Crypto breaches are increasing. Just weeks ago, XT Exchange halted withdrawals after hackers stole $1.7 million.
The stolen funds were also converted into Ethereum. As the threat grows, crypto leaders urge users to stay vigilant and secure their assets. As funds continue to vanish, experts urge users to protect their assets.
